VCC’s Leagues for Members
Men’s League
The Men’s League at VCC is one the perfect blend of social and competitive golf. The league features four handicap-based flights to allow competition for all skill levels.
Played on late Wednesday afternoons from May to September, the 9-hole rounds provide plenty of opportunities for serious competition and laughs, time enjoy a little “talk” between players, and social time in the Dining Room to regale the rounds with your fellow competitors and friends. The men’s league is open to Regular, Junior, Non-Resident, and Corporate Members.
Women’s Leagues
The Women’s League features options for both weekly 9-hole and 18-hole rounds each Wednesday morning. It is a fun league for women of all skill levels. The league has a fun social atmosphere. The Women’s Leagues are open to all Regular, Junior and Non-Resident Members, and Corporate members.
An informal women’s group, Par-Fectionists, meets for a round of golf on Thursday evenings. The players might be different each week, but the opportunity to meet and play golf with other members for a regularly scheduled game gives a great reason to block your calendar to join them.
Couples League
One of the fastest growing and interesting regular golf options is Couples League. Scheduled every other Friday evening, couples are presented a different format each outing to compete. Couples League is handicapped by couple and marriage is not required. Couples do not have to attend each scheduled event, but most don’t want to miss one. The week’s event format may be a modified scramble, alternate shot, 3-clubs per bag, best ball, or other format to keep it fun. Like the other Leagues, the event doesn’t end after the 9-hole round, as the social engagement makes its way to the Dining Room or Pavilion Bar for drinks, dinner, or both.
L4
For ladies interested in honing their golf skills, and their social skills, L4 meets each Thursday, from June to August. The evening starts with beverages at the Pavilion, a lesson on a particular aspect of the game, and then a 5-hole scramble to put new-found skills to the test. Post round, many participants continue their social practice with drinks and dinner in the Dining Room or at the Pavilion. L4 does not require participation every week, but those who attend, find it hard to miss.
Member Golf Events
Mark your calendars! You don’t want to miss many if any of the VCC Member Golf Events. Watch your email or check the Pro Shop for sign up information. Golfers of all levels are encouraged to participate. Sure, someone is keeping score, but everyone has fun. It is a great opportunity to meet other members and enjoy a round in a variety of formats. For most scrambles, the staff balances teams to set up fun events, with a bit, or maybe a more than a bit, of competition for prizes.
The annual Member/Guest event held a weekend in July is one of VCC’s premiere events. VCC’s premiere member event is the Labor Day Outing, which features carefully crafted, minimum collective handicapped teams competing in the 36-hole scramble event.
Individual match and stroke play competitions are hosted during the season for all Golf Members.
The more you participate, the better your opportunity to build points in the season-long Elevated Event Rankings (indicated with an “*”).
